Keith Patrick Lewis has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse following an investigation that was sparked by Child Protective Services involving a 6-week-old child in Frederick County.

The Frederick Police Department was alerted by CPS last week after a child was treated at Frederick Health Hospital and later transferred to the Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC for additional evaluation.

Investigators say that after seeing the child, it was determined that the infant had "significant injuries" that included multiple fractured bones.

Over the days following the investigation, based on detectives' work and "the expert opinion of the child's doctors at the hospital," Lewis was identified as a suspect and he was arrested.

Lewis was charged with first-degree and second-degree child abuse. He was held over the weekend without bond at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, though his bond was reduced to $10,000 at a hearing on Monday.
